Fumigation
is a last-resort method of pest control, often used when other
methods have failed. We offer fumigation services for pest-control
clients who have severe difficulties with a particular type of
pest (usually insects).
In
fumigation, a type of toxic gas is used in the infested premises
in order to poison and kill the pests that are present. Gaseous
pesticides, or fumigants, are used to completely fill the area
affected, which either suffocates or poisons the pests within
it.
The
area to be fumigated has to be completely sealed off to create
an isolated environment, following which the fumigant is pumped
in and then held for a set period to allow the gas to act on the
pests. Finally, the space is ventilated to allow the fumigant
to disperse, and the premises are safe for humans to enter once
again.
Fumigation
is a highly powerful method of pest control that also affects
the actual structure of the building being treated, as well as
the space within. It is most effective when used with other types
of pest control, such as pest proofing, which aims to prevent
pests from re-entering a home or business.
